I want Washington County to remain a safe place to live, work, and raise a family.  My wife and I have chosen to raise our family here, and I am invested in the future of our community and your safety.

As your District Attorney, I have worked to ensure all members of our community are safe and protected from crime.  I have a proven track record of working with law enforcement, civic groups, and community partners to protect public safety.  Throughout my career, I have worked with hundreds of crime victims and prosecuted our county’s most serious crimes, including murder, child abuse, sex trafficking, elder abuse, domestic violence, and financial embezzlement.  Before I was elected as District Attorney, I spent a decade as a child abuse prosecutor protecting children from sex crimes.  I believe that everyone has the right to live in safety without fear or worry of crime.  When crime does occur, the District Attorney must ensure that justice follows.

I lead a District Attorney's Office that includes over 140 employees whose mission is to seek justice and protect our community.  Despite the pandemic and the dramatic rise in crime in Portland, we have worked hard to keep Washington County one of the safest urban communities on the West Coast.

As your District Attorney, I am part of many organizations and non-profits serving our community. These include:

  • Washington County Major Crimes Team

  • Family Justice Center of Washington County

  • CARES Northwest

  • Building Bridges of Understanding

  • Oregon Department of Justice Child Abuse Multidisciplinary Intervention Advisory Committee

  • Washington County Public Safety Coordinating Council

  • Fight Crime: Invest in Kids

  • Safe Neighborhoods for Oregon

  • Oregon District Attorney's Association

  • Oregon Diversity Legal Job Fair

  • IMPACTS Grant Program Review Committee

  • Washington County Center for Addiction Triage and Treatment (CATT) steering committee

  • Oregon Dept. of Education (Early Learning Division) Child Care Safety Portal Ad Hoc Committee (2019-2020)

  • Oregon Behavioral Health Justice Reinvestment Steering Committee (2018-2019)

I was raised locally and live in Washington County with my wife and three children.  I graduated from Jesuit High School, Gonzaga University and the University of Notre Dame Law School.  When I'm not in the office or courthouse, you can usually find me cheering on one of my kids at a local soccer field, basketball court or softball field.

With your support, I hope to continue protecting and serving our community as your Washington County District Attorney.
